Ever wonder what Scouts really do? Drop in and find out.

Open House, October 20th
1:00 – 5:00 PM
900 South Main St. Salisbury at the Jack Kepley Scout Building.

Troop and Venturing Crew 448 are inviting you to see the many sides of Scouting. Boys Scouts offers a unique way of meeting people who may become important to you later in your life. Many of the Scout Leaders and supporters are the same people you will be contacting for schooling and employment opportunities. Many former Scouts are in jobs now that they found out about through Merit badges and outings.

At the open house, Scout skills will be displayed by the Troop. The Crew will be doing Dutch Oven cooking. Refreshments will be served along with a slide show of trips past. There will be plenty of Scouts, Crew and Leaders to answer questions and make you feel welcome. Chartered for over 80 years, Troop 448 has rooms full of pictures of activities past and present. From Sea Base and Air Force 1 to Philmont and rafting the Nantahala. Patriots Point in Charleston to Worley’s cave in Tennessee. Boating at High Rock Lake to bicycling the Virginia Creep Trail. With an active Venturing Crew, Scouts are often invited to age appropriate high adventure activities. Come and have a good time!

Troop 448 meets Mondays when school is in session, at 900 S. Main St. at 7:00
PM. Under Scoutmaster Alfred Wilson, the Scouts plan the activities that they are interested in. That means that every month of every year is different from before. Open to boys ages 11 to 17 for Scouts, and 18 and older as Assistant Scoutmasters. The Troop has consistently provided a path to Eagle for years. The most valuable possession you can treasure is a hand carved neckerchief slide by Jack Kepley. Any time you wear it in public, strangers stop and ask if you are in Jack Kepley’s Troop.

Crew 448 meets every Wednesdays at 900 S. Main St. Wednesdays at 7:00 PM. The Crew’s focus is on high adventure challenges and social activities like “Do Nothing Campouts”. Through these events we work to perfect our communication skills and leadership abilities-important skills for today’s world. More importantly we are here to have FUN! Already in Scouts? Eagled out and just wanting to have fun? You may be eligible to participate with us just as you are.
